Your Spiritual Gifts

3 o'clock wake up callTurn your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding.  – Proverbs 2:2

Years ago, when I took a spiritual inventory test to discover what gifts God had given me, I scored an all-time low in “discernment,” as in “figuring out what God wants me to do with my life.”  Somewhat disappointed, and looking for a little comfort, I went home and told my husband about the results. He smiled and said “well, that’s no surprise, I’ve been watching you bounce around for years.” So much for comfort…

What are your spiritual gifts?  In a group of people do you find yourself leading?  With new knowledge, are you excited to teach someone else what you’ve learned?  Do you take on the administrative role, organizing the work at hand?  Do you share your faith with others because you see God clearly at work in your life and others’?  Or maybe your first inclination is to help others.

God has uniquely made us to serve Him and each other with our spiritual gifts.  If you work out of your giftedness, you’ll not only enjoy the journey, but you’ll also live fully awake, energizing the people around you, and making a huge difference in whatever you do.

God’s word says to, “Turn you ear to wisdom.”  If you’d to learn more about spiritual gifts, you can take a quick test at http://giftstest.com/test

Proverbs 2 also says to, “Apply your heart to understanding.”  Once you know what your spiritual gifts are, you can better understand which tasks to take on.

Be wise!  Serve and work out of your giftedness.  Consider carefully when you’re asked to be responsible for things outside your giftedness, is God leading you to grow in that area, or would you be better off helping in another way.  That takes discernment (so don’t ask me for advice ;) )
